Convert School.Machine
& School.Machine.Kiosk for USB Key
Do all the following on a Windows box:

Download the ISO and make a note
of its location.

Download unetbootin-windows-241.exe
(or click here if the unebootin/sourceforge site is down).
Using HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool:

Format your USB key as follows:
o
File System: FAT 32
o
Volume Label: Whatever
o
Leave everything else at default
values
Use unetbootin-windows-241.exe:
·
In ‘Distribution’, select
PCLinuxOS & 2007_Live (the base image of School.Machine &
School.Machine.Kiosk re-masters).
·
In ‘Diskimage’, select ISO, and drill
down to the location of the downloaded ISO image mentioned above.
·
Leave other values blank, except
for the last field ‘Type’. Ensure you select the drive letter that represents
your USB key.
·
Select ok, and let it run.
Depending on size of the ISO image, it should take about 5 minutes.
Put the USB key in a PC that is configured to boot
from a USB device, and voila!
Note: The USB version
is immune to write operations. Perfect for a kiosk type setup!
