The screenshots shown below show the desktop from both School.Machine & School.Machine.Kiosk. Apart from a different menu structure, and less menu options in Firefox, these screenshots are representative of both distros.

The desktops in both S.M. and S.M.K. are identical. However the menu options are different. S.M.K. has fewer options, as befits a locked down environment.

The menu options in S.M.K. are more restricted, but apart from the lack of the CD burning & email applications, the application selection, including the web 2.0 applications shown here, are the same.

OpenOffice.org's word application. OpenOffice is a fully featured alternative to MS Office, and is compatible with MS formats.

From here you can configure user accounts, hardware, firewall settings, wireless, server functionality, networking, etc.
